Throwback Thursday: Rollin', rollin', rollin'...

Remember 'Rawhide'?  Most of us won't. All I remember is the theme song.

"Keep rollin', rollin', rollin',
Though the streams are swollen,
Keep them dogies rollin', Rawhide!"

Anyway, it was a TV series in the 1950s starring Clint EastwoodJames Murdock played a good-hearted, but simple-minded, cook's assistant nicknamed Mushy. With a small recurring part, he provided levity to an otherwise serious show. He was a minor character. ...

...Until the episode "Incident of the Captive". (All the episodes were named "Incident 'of' or 'at'..." one thing or another.)  In this one Mushy has the main story line. He stages the kidnapping of his mother (Mercedes McCambridge, the voice of the Devil in The Exorcist), who has come to bring him home. In it we find out he ran away from home at 17 and that his real name is Harkness Musgrove III. Or is it Mushgrove?

Well, through the miracle of You-Tube, we now present an encore showing of the episode where 'Mushy' is identified as a Musgrove. So, this is a Throwback Thursday and a Musgrove trivia post. Sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy at .
